Miss Hawklet
Gorgeous, Handspun, Handdyed yarns from the ever fabulous, Miss Hawklet.
Miss Hawklet's hand-bound books are made from mostly recycled materials such as withdrawn library books, old computer paper, puzzles, and other thrifted materials.
Part of the fun of creating books for Holly is digging through her piles of found materials!
All the fibers for Miss Hawklet handspun yarn are carefully chosen by Holly. She purchases farm or what she calls "animal friendly" wool and mohair from a small rescue farm in Wisconsin, where she knows the sheep are spoiled rotten! She also purchases "mill end" wool, which is fiber that comes from a large yarn company. These mill ends are seconds that would otherwise go to waste. It is super soft and wonderful on your skin, but has been processed like commerical wool.
Her bio.
Misshawklet is a one-woman run company, owned and operated by Holly Klump. misshawklet.com has been online since November 2004.
Holly's goal is to make products that are useful, artful and eco-conscious. She grew up in a very small town in upstate NY, and her blue collar background often inspires her work. A lifelong crafter, Holly began making books at age six. She became interested in spinning yarn shortly after learning to knit — Holly still may be a beginner knitter but she has been making yarn for over three years.
Holly lives in Burlington, VT with her guy Nate and pets Derby, Picky-Picky and Kodha.
